Why There Is Growing Acceptance

Increased acceptance of same-sex couples can be due to:

1. Higher visibility of gay couples on television (Will & Grace, Sex and the City, Glee, Modern Family, Brother & Sisters, Grey's Anatomy)
2. Once you get the idea that you could marry, it's very hard to accept that it's OK to not be equal
3. Young people are more open to it, with 75% or more of young people supporting gay marriage
4. More people have friends of family members who are same-sex attracted, making it much harder to discriminate against someone you know personally
