Increased acceptance of same-sex couples can be due to:
- Higher visibility of gay couples on television (Will & Grace, Sex and the City, Glee, Modern Family, Brother & Sisters, Grey's Anatomy)
- Once you get the idea that you could marry, it's very hard to accept that it's OK to not be equal
- Young people are more open to it, with 75% or more of young people supporting gay marriage
- More people have friends of family members who are same-sex attracted, making it much harder to discriminate against someone you know personally
